He's appeared in Campaign 2 of Critical Role as Calianna, along with a handful of guest spots in other shows and one-shots at various events and other streams. Mark is also a TTRPG writer and designer, working with Wizards of the Coast on Candlekeep Mysteries, MCDM on Flee, Mortals and his own work on Patreon and DMsGuild.
Game Style
Mark describes his game as a Classic D&D All-Rounder with relaxed, fun, vibes. "An easy way to get an idea of my game type is to look at my own favorite media. Stuff like Star Wars, Disney's Avengers, The Mummy (the good one with Brendan Fraser), games like Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, and books like Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn, Tamsyn Muir's Gideon the Ninth, etc. I like big, bombastic, fun fantasy. The type of adventure that focuses on interesting people and places with dramatic set pieces and giving narrative choices that matter. ".
- A balanced mixture of exploration, combat, and social encounters with lively NPCs and enemies.
- I try to make my adventures and worlds as inclusive and welcoming as possible.
- Most Combat encounters are designed assuming all players will contribute to the fight to the best of their ability. Some may require tight teamwork/creative solutions to resolve rather than just dealing lots of damage.
- Creative play and use of character abilities, skills, background, and equipment are encouraged! It may not always be easy to do, be repeatable, or work exactly as intended, but I love to adjust the rules and allow things out of the norm.
- Focus on more positive/action-oriented experiences rather than dark/horror/psychological play.
- Roleplaying is encouraged, but there are no expectations for dramatic, emotional, play or Theatre-level performances.
- Comedy is present but not a focus (not Mark's specialty)
- Character death is possible but rare. Certain ruthless enemies may strike unconscious PCs to finish them off, some enemies will be significantly more powerful than the PCs. However, many enemies will also flee, surrender, or spare PCs depending on personality/circumstances. I'll never set out to kill a character intentionally, but Death is a possibility depending on player actions, choices, and sometimes just bad luck.
