The Castles of D&D in a Castle
What’s so special about a castle?
There is a unique, almost indescribable charm about the immersive setting of a Castle that transforms your gaming experience into a living, breathing adventure. These majestic fortresses act as gateways to the land of story, where the lines between fantasy and reality blur, enhancing the role-playing experience beyond measure.
The Castle Experience: Beyond Just a Game
At D&D in a Castle, the setting itself contributes to the narrative, every nook and cranny offering a new plot twist or a hidden story element. Our Castles are closed to the public during D&D in a Castle, allowing us to shut out the world beyond, and to exist within the plane of make-believe for a few days. All our Castles function as hotels during the rest of the year, and so are well equipped to manage any special requests related to dietary or mobility needs.
We take great care in selecting our Castle venues, to ensure they have everything necessary to create the perfect retreat for our guests. All our Castles offer an immersive and evocative environment of fantasy and adventure, as well as the ability to cater to our guests’ every need while they are with us, including accommodation, meals, and top quality service. Each Castle is unique in its own way, yet all have been carefully chosen to ensure adherence to our ideals of a Vacation Beyond Imagination.

Thelien’s Rest ( ohican Castle) is a newer castle, conceived in the late 20th century by entrepreneur Jim Landoll. Unlike the ancient castles of Europe, the Mohican Castle was built as a labor of love and a testament to craftsmanship and imagination. Situated in Loudonville, Ohio, amidst the lush forests of Mohican country, the castle serves as a unique blend of modern luxury and medieval fantasy. Its construction was inspired by Jim Landoll's travels in Europe and his desire to create a fairy-tale setting in the heart of Ohio. Today, the Mohican Castle offers a one-of-a-kind experience, with its towers, guest suites, and scenic grounds making it a sought-after destination for events, weddings, and, of course, immersive D&D adventures. The castle's relatively recent history adds a modern twist to the classic castle experience, inviting guests to create their own legends and tales in a setting that feels both timeless and distinctly American.
All D&D in a Castle events at this venue take place in summer, which benefits from the immaculate grounds, outdoor Tavern and exterior access to all guest rooms. Events here feel like an Elven Festival, full of tree spirits and dancing lights.
