About D&D In A Castle

Every person behind D&D in a Castle is a dreamer. From the event organisers to the globally esteemed Dungeon Masters, we hold a steadfast belief in the potency of storytelling and the remarkable connections that can be kindled over a collective adventure. It's not merely about throwing dice and manoeuvring miniatures; it's about crafting memories, forging friendships, and delving into a narrative that's beyond the ordinary.

D&D in a Castle was founded by two siblings, Cameron and Tara Rout, a couple of dreamers who have a vision for the ultimate D&D Vacation in Europe. Now, after several years of hosting celebrated D&D in a Castle events, the vision has grown to be held on American soil as well!

“This was my family’s new favorite vacation”

D&D in a Castle the kind of vacation that D&D fans and fanatics could have only hoped to find if they had their very own Wish spell. Nowhere else can you find such an amazing community gathered around world-class Dungeon Masters whose love of the game makes a week of game time go by in a blink and leave you wishing for more.

“Incredible and inspiring! A true vacation and escape and I’m looking forward to attending again.”

If you are looking for an experience where you get true escapism D&D in a Castle is the perfect choice. Once you step foot on the castle grounds, and likely even before then, you will be surrounded by people who are brought together by a shared love of Table Top Role Playing Games, and the stories that they facilitate. Together you will go on an adventure you will never forget, and make memories that are only possible when you play D&D in a Castle.

“I would say a once in a lifetime experience but once you go you just want to keep coming back!”

This Campaign will haunt me in my dreams…in a good way. This was an incredible campaign that absolutely shredded my heart…again in a good way. I cared so much, and I feel like I walked away from this experience with the newfound confidence in my ability to DM and I definitely walked away as a better player.

Meet The Team

Tara “the Magnanimous” Rout
Co-Founder and Benevolent Dictator

One half of the sibling group who started this whole affair, Tara continues to run the company and oversee the event as CEO. She formerly expressed her passion for immersive, nerdy events by founding the Pride & Prejudice Ball and running the Festival of Witchcraft & Wizardry while practicing human rights law in Edmonton, Canada.

Mike “The Pragmatic” Tinney
Criminal Mastermind

Not an actual criminal, but definitely a mastermind, Mike pitches in by lending his extensive operational experience to the Castle as co-CEO, Chairman of the Board and acting CFO. Mike is an entrepreneur and game designer, formerly CEO of Whitewolf Publishing and current CEO of FIX Health.

Justin “The Charming” Kautz
Resident Superhero

No one is quite sure if Justin is really human like the rest of us, but we are fresh out of kryptonite, so I guess we shall never know. Currently acting as our Event Coordinator, Justin is also a trained opera singer and former engineer with a longstanding passion for roleplay and a history of bookkeeping and project management for performing arts enterprises.

Jennifer “The Devoted” Hopper
The Crafty

Hopper came to the Castle as a guest, was enchanted by the magic, and is now helping create the magic. As the devoted Managerial Assistant to Queen Tara, she tirelessly tends to the needs of the realm, having cultivated her craft as a manager at the happiest place on earth. When she is not running around the Castle, she pours her energy into her church, her cat, and her love of coffee.
