The Castle Finally Alive Once Again

Greetings Adventurers.

We are back from our first events of 2022 at Lumley Castle and delighted to say that we had a magnificent time with our guests and Dungeon Masters.

Over one hundred and thirty hours of Dungeons & Dragons were played amongst all our sessions with a multitude of highlights including magic items moving between campaigns, almost drowning a party member in a water elemental, a group of players making psychic contact with a planet, and one party turning an ordinary magpie into some kind of god.

We were lucky enough and so thankful to have event sponsors for both rounds; Nord Games came to the castle armed to the teeth with giveaways and games as their creative team ran one-shots and played NPCs throughout Round One.

If that wasn’t enough, the masters of special edition content, Beadle & Grimm’s, sponsored a table in Round Two and financed a contest to fly two players to the castle for an all-expenses paid trip into the wonderful world of The Wild Beyond The Witchlight, Their sessions were even DM’d by Will Doyle, a The Wild Beyond The Witchlight co-author.

Above and beyond the epic D&D games and the awesome swag we had a raft of other activities from archery to escape rooms, from actual falconry to magic items hidden around the castle for players to discover. We had late nights at the bar with Satine Phoenix and Jamison Stone teaching us a brilliant guessing game and sea shanties created by players and sung into the night at our nightly banquets .

We had sixty five guests, fifteen DMs, eight staff, four birds and one cat that definitely stole somebody’s sock taking part in our first rounds at the castle. Our players have since commissioned art of their D&D parties, made plans to meet up, and one group is in the process of novelising their campaign! And we can’t wait to do it all again in September… Care to join us?
