Conquering travel requirements
The past year has been a harrowing experience for many of us. We have all experienced, to greater or lesser degrees, the ravages of a common enemy. Many of us have continued playing D&D from the confines of our homes. But hope returns with the possibility of travel and socializing.

For those of us looking forward to adventuring outside our homes, a remarkable treasure lies ripe for capture—a castle of some repute, enticing you to cross lands, seas, and vistas of imagination.
But you are wary, and rightly so. Every adventurer needs supplies, weapons, coin, and a certain amount of preparation. We have scoured the vast libraries of the world and compiled the following advice from sages of the interweb:
Supplies—bring all the masks, sanitizer, and all the snacks you think you will need. Airport restaurants may or may not be open depending on where and when you fly.
Weapons—it is definitely easier to travel internationally when you have been fully vaccinated, although in order to enter England on their ‘easy entrance’ route, you have to have had a vaccine from their recognized list and both shots have to have been from the same vaccine. Not the case for you? Fear not. You will just have to take a few extra steps to reach the castle.
Please find the details here. Note that they can change entrance requirements for countries of origin without notice, and that Scotland, Northern Ireland and England all have different entry requirements. Lumley Castle is in England. Also, there are restrictions on which airports you can fly into based on your vaccination and country of origin status. As well, check and re-check your home country’s re-entry requirements as these will also change on short notice.

Coin—you may need to plan on bringing extra cash in case you misread the entry requirements or thought you qualified for quarantine-less entry, but don’t. Quarantine costs several thousand pounds and takes at least ten extra days, sometimes longer. England has penalty fees of up to £10,000 for deliberate misrepresentation of your vaccination and covid status.
Preparation—print out forms for entry and return home in advance. Bring a few blank extras and a pen. Make multiple copies as you may have to provide the same information to different parties. Plan for extra time if you have a connecting flight, as you may have to spend extra time answering questions. Bring your proof of vaccination and covid test results, with accessible copies if lost. Book your plane close to your travel date as entry rules may change. Check your travel insurance for reimbursement due to cancellation—some airlines will no longer accept covid-related reasons. Book covid tests according to England and your home country’s requirements—usually about 48 hours or less before you travel.
